We have a diverse property portfolio that includes office accommodation, depots, laboratories, treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and vacant land. We don't allow public access to most of them. This is so we can protect our assets and the water we supply to you. However, we do allow access in a variety of circumstances.

Visiting Prospect Reservoir picnic areas\r\n

We manage picnic areas at Prospect for the community to use and enjoy during set hours, subject to conditions of entry. WaterNSW owns and manages the reservoir itself and Prospect Nature Reserve.

The picnic grounds and cycleway are usually open to the public:

  • 6am–6:30pm during daylight savings
  • \r\n
  • 7am–4:30pm at all other times.

More about the picnic areas

The picnic areas are located within the grounds of Prospect Reservoir on William Lawson Drive. This is just off Reservoir Road, Prospect, about 35 kilometres west of Sydney.

There are 3 picnic areas:

  • Andrew Campbell Reserve
  • \r\n
  • George Maunder Reserve (upper and lower picnic areas)
  • \r\n
  • Walder Park. 
  • \r\n
\r\n

Facilities include a viewing area and cycleway. All picnic areas have amenities and playground equipment, but there are no barbecue facilities and you can't light fires.

  1. Take the Prospect Highway exit.

  7. The entrance to Prospect Reservoir is via William Lawson Drive, about 180 metres on the left.

Sydney Water's Urban Plunge program is providing an exciting opportunity for the community to celebrate summer in Sydney!

From 26th November 2022 – 26th January 2023, Sydney Water will be hosting a free “pop-up” swim site in the parklands adjacent to Prospect Reservoir, in the heart of Western Sydney. The 8-week pop-up is designed to start a conversation with the community about swimming in our waterways and explore opportunities for more permanent places to swim across Greater Sydney.

With plenty for the whole family to do, you’ll be able to:

Some of our locations are ideal for filmmakers and photographers. We allow filming on some of our properties for a fee, as long as it doesn't interfere with our business operations.

Holding an event on our property\r\n

Some of our properties are ideal for private or community events. However, there may be costs involved. Find out more about holding events from our Request to film, photograph or host an event on our land fact sheet.

Most of our property is protected by fencing and access gates. If you need to enter our property for a special reason, for example, to cut back trees in your backyard or to deliver large items to your yard, please email your request to propertyaccess@sydneywater.com.au. You need to provide:
