We have a diverse property portfolio that includes office accommodation, depots, laboratories, treatment plants, reservoirs, pumping stations and vacant land. We don't allow public access to most of them. This is so we can protect our assets and the water we supply to you. However, we do allow access in a variety of circumstances.

Visiting Prospect Reservoir picnic areas\r\n

We manage picnic areas at Prospect for the community to use and enjoy during set hours, subject to conditions of entry. WaterNSW owns and manages the reservoir itself and Prospect Nature Reserve.

The picnic grounds and cycleway are usually open to the public:

  • 6am–6:30pm during daylight savings
  • \r\n
  • 7am–4:30pm at all other times. 
  • \r\n
\r\n

The east–west cycleway is currently closed for heritage bridge repairs. For more information, call WaterNSW on 1300 662 077.

More about the picnic areas

The picnic areas are located within the grounds of Prospect Reservoir on William Lawson Drive. This is just off Reservoir Road, Prospect, about 35 kilometres west of Sydney.

There are 3 picnic areas:
\r\n

    \r\n
  • Andrew Campbell Reserve
  • \r\n
  • George Maunder Reserve (upper and lower picnic areas)
  • \r\n
  • Walder Park. 
  • \r\n
\r\n

Facilities include a viewing area and cycleway. All picnic areas have amenities and playground equipment, but there are no barbecue facilities and you can't light fires.

  7. The entrance to Prospect Reservoir is via William Lawson Drive, about 180 metres on the left.

Some of our locations are ideal for filmmakers and photographers. We allow filming on some of our properties for a fee, as long as it doesn't interfere with our business operations.

Most of our property is protected by fencing and access gates. If you need to enter our property for a special reason, for example, to cut back trees in your backyard or to deliver large items to your yard, please email your request to propertyaccess@sydneywater.com.au. You need to provide:
